Spicy Lentil Dhal Soup


Moms Dhal soup is always a hit among my friends and family we enjoy this yummy soup all monsoon and winter this versatile soup can be served with steaming hot rice, chapati or bread toast...

Ingredients:
1 Cup Cooked Red Lentils or Split Pigeon Peas
2 Medium Onion (Roughly Chopped)
2 Medium Size Tomatoes (Roughly Chopped)
5 Green Chillies Slit
10 Pods Garlic
1 Tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste

10 Black Pepper Corns
3 Pods Cardamom
2 Inch Stick Cinnamon
4 Cloves

Salt as per taste
2 Tsp Ghee
2 Tbsp Oil

For Garnish, finely chopped mint and coriander 1/2 tsp lime juice..


Dhal soup is a kid friendly diet which is healthy and nourishing when they have cold and cough kids tend to avoid food prepare some dhal soup add few drops of ghee to rice and mix soup with rice and serve...it will be devoured in no time....


Method:
  • In a pressure cooker add washed dhal enough water salt and few drops castor oil place a whistle and cook for 4 whistles or until well done.
  • In a wok add ghee and oil add all the spices and allow to crackle a bit add ginger and garlic paste whole garlic pods and fry till raw flavour has gone.
  • Add onion, chillies and tomato fry a bit add salt and fry till oil surfaces.
  • Add dhal and water bring to a boil...once the onion and tomato has cooked its done remove from flame garnish with mint and coriander lime juice and serve hot...Enjoy...:)
